Eye Patient is an extremely useful app that can help with vision screening. This app allows you to track your visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and color vision deficiencies easily. The visual acuity tests within the app can help you understand how well you can read and see numbers, letters, or objects, distinguish colors, and how good your peripheral vision is.
A standard Snellen Chart, for instance, works by having you read letters on a chart at different distances. The chart is broken up into sections that represent varying levels of vision, so you can see how well you’re doing.
With the Eye Health Score feature, you can learn more about symptoms or disorders such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and other vision problems. Your score is based on different tests such as the Amsler Grid, Landolt-C charts, visual perception tests, and color vision screening, so you can determine the aspects of your vision that require attention.
The app allows you to access a vast archive of medical resources about eye care, from professional tests and screening procedures to treatments and surgeries, medicines, and useful insights into eye health and general medical conditions. You’ll also get access to a directory of eye specialists near you. Telemedicine tools such as Amsler Grid tests (which help you see any changes in your peripheral vision), and color vision charts (for testing color-blindness) are also available within the app for preliminary vision screening. The app is free to use.
